LOVELOCITY: TALES OF TRAVEL & TROPICAL ISLAND LIFE

Growing up in England in the seventies, my childhood dream was to live on a tropical island and become a travel writer until my snooty careers teacher ridiculed me in front of the class, dismissing my aspirations as “pure fantasy”. This led to nineteen years of working for a retail bank before jumping for joy at the fortuitous offer of a golden handshake, and a fortune teller’s accurate prediction that I would make millions.
My adventures, misadventures, cultural misunderstandings and observations of a life lived overseas tell of the serendipitous encounters, friendships and true love, which I found along the way, not forgetting the retrospectively hilarious disasters that were destined to become some of my best dinner party stories.
Since 1998, I have made my home on the tropical island of Bali, writing for international guidebooks and magazines, while exploring the far-flung reaches of the Indonesian archipelago in the company of friends, Hindu gods, demons, dolphins, dragons and drug traffickers to find inspiration for my travel tales.
